I grew up in New York City, and even in high school in Manhattan we could get weed (pot back then) delivered to our parents’ apartment buildings. I imagine that delivery services which have been widening the range of their products for decades are where the most sophisticated underground weed businesses are entrenched and committed. Reply
I’ve been buying weed for many, many years in Manhattan also and remember the gritty days of going into dingy fake storefronts. But, the difference is the proliferation of edibles, vapes… It’s bad enough that dispensaries need to compete against the illicit market on flower, but now there is product. Like I mentioned in the article, I’ve met illegal edible brands selling to illegal storefronts with no intention of going legal. The danger is the underground economy can now sell illegal products in the open in storefronts- no more hiding. Everyone I talk to think the shops are legal. A new economy is taking root and taxpayers will not benefit. Reply
