What’s still illegal under NJ marijuana legalization laws? Here’s a refresher on rules

Today, 12 New Jersey medical marijuana dispensaries will begin selling legal weed to any adult over 21 years old.

And while that might be the main takeaway of the New Jersey marijuana legalization laws enacted last year, there are very specific restrictions on exactly what, where and how much cannabis you can buy or use.

Here’s a refresher on what’s legal when it comes to NJ legal weed … and what’s still very much against the law:

LEGAL: You can buy marijuana…

As of today, you can legally purchase up to 1 ounce of marijuana.

State law also allows you to have up to 6 ounces on your person at any one time without facing any penalties, but you can only legally buy up to 1 ounce.

ILLEGAL: …but only from these licensed dispensaries

There are only 12 locations from which you can buy legal weed, but more medical marijuana dispensaries are expected to be approved for legal weed sales in the coming weeks.
