PRESS RELEASE
LOS ANGELES (August 29, 2018) –  MedMen Enterprises Inc. (“MedMen”or the “Company”) (CSE: MMEN) (OTCQB: MMNFF) (FSE: A2JM6N) is pleased to announce that former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has joined its Board of Directors.
Villaraigosa brings with him two decades of public service. He served two terms as mayor of Los Angeles from 2005 to 2013, was the Speaker of the California State Assembly from 1998 to 2000, a Los Angeles councilmember from 2003 to 2005 and President of the United States Conference of Mayors in 2012. He was appointed by President Obama to chair the 2012 Democratic Convention. Time magazine called Villaraigosa one of the country’s 25 most influential Latinos.
Positioned squarely on the national stage, Villaraigosa is considered to be a leading voice and champion of the “radical middle” in American politics, known for his exceptional skill at building broad bipartisan coalitions. Villaraigosa has culled a national reputation as a fiercely independent thinker willing to challenge power even at heavy personal and political cost.
“California is the largest legal cannabis market in the world, and Los Angeles is the epicenter of our fast-evolving industry,” said MedMen Co-founder and CEO Adam Bierman. “Few people understand Los Angeles and our home state better than Mayor Villaraigosa. He will be instrumental in guiding MedMen’s expansion in the Golden State and through his broad network, Mr. Villaraigosa will help MedMen solidify its presence across the country. He has dedicated his career to empowering local communities, and we look forward to his leadership.”
Villaraigosa was President of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 3230 representing employees at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He was also a former union organizer and field representative for the United Teachers of Los Angeles. He is a past president of the Southern California chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, and served on the Southern California Rapid Transit District and on the Metropolitan Transportation Authority twice over two decades.
“I’m excited for this opportunity to shape the cannabis industry and its commitment to social equity by joining the board of the company that is leading the charge,” Villaraigosa said.
A leading cultivator, producer and retailer of state-sanctioned cannabis in the U.S., MedMen currently operates 19 licensed facilities in California, Nevada and New York.
