Lafayette, Colo., (July 16, 2018) – urban-gro, a leading provider of cultivation equipment, crop management products, design & integration services, and technology solutions to commercial cannabis cultivators throughout North America and around the world, is pleased to announce the promotion of Mark Doherty to the position of vice president of Cultivation Technologies. A long-term leader within urban-gro, Doherty brings extensive design, project management, customer relations, and sales expertise with multiple firms and grows focused on cannabis. In his new role, Doherty joins urban-gro’s executive team and will continue to lead the organization’s global project management and design efforts.

Doherty began his career in controlled environment agriculture by building New York’s first commercial-scale indoor aquaponic farm. He designed and constructed this first-of-its-kind, 13,000 square foot Controlled Environment Agriculture facility in an abandoned factory in Central New York where seafood and produce was cultivated for local and regional restaurants and supermarkets. Inside the old building, Mark constructed an indoor ecosystem that consisted of 20,000 gallons of stock tanks and over 7,000 square feet of Deep Water Culture Hydroponic cultivation area, all under artificial light. From there, he served as a managing partner at a medical marijuana facility design and consulting firm before moving on to urban-gro as its director of sales in the Northeast region. Doherty holds an M.B.A. from the State University of New York Institute of Technology. With almost a decade of industry-specific experience, Doherty is well positioned to manage the numerous design projects urban-gro is engaged with around the world.
