Is Today’s Cannabis Stronger?

I just read an article titled “Regulate potency in pot before legalizing it“.

I asked myself a few questions…what are they talking about? Why would we regulate medicine to be less pure? Wouldn’t you just take less? What are they really worried about?

As I read more, I realized people believe today’s Cannabis is 15 times stronger than the 1970s. How in the name of Bob Marley did anyone conclude that?

Today’s lies about weed

Why do we keep spreading these lies? No, pot isn’t 15x stronger since the 70’s. That’s reefer madness at best, and straight out lies at worst! Let’s take a look at this with intelligence and science.

Point #1- Who is saying this and what is their agenda?

It’s the people who are completely anti-cannabis. Then, some of us innocent, but gullible stoners repeat this baloney! Repeat a lie long enough, and it becomes the truth…

Point #2- The cannabis we lab-tested in the 70s was all garbage.

It was Mexican brick weed and Iowa ditch weed, and it was not very good. Today, we have filet mignon, and we compare it to yesterday’s hamburger. Of course there’s a difference in the test results!

Point #3- The results from the 70’s are flawed.

We used Gas Chromatography (GC) back then. It was the science from the early 1900’s still being used. GC was ineffective for many biochemists because of the thermal instability of the solutes. As a result, alternative methods were hypothesized which would soon result in the development of High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) which is what is used today.

Point #4- Genetics have not come that far in weed.

The stoners cross-breeding plants, with fantastic environments and great nutrition have certainly increased flower potency. But, you need real science to get any genetics as far as they are claiming. Read this article and you’ll see we have a long, long way to go and lots of money needed – http://www.wired.com/2016/04/the-science-of-marijuana/

Point #5- This is anecdotal, but I’ll testify …I smoked pot in the late 70’s.

I loved it and smoked it all the time. All throughout high school, college, and adulthood. The first weed I got was Mexican brick weed. I realized right away (from new friends) that there was better weed out there. So I went on a search and found a friend of a friend who grew hydroponic strain-specific weed. It was hairy, stinky, sticky, one-hit stuff. Today, I can find that same stuff in the better dispensaries around the country. It’s basically the same in my opinion.

Conclusion

Just stop it. Stop trying to justify why you need limits on Cannabis. Admit it, you just don’t want cannabis legal and this is a way to get there. By scaring people.

Yes, we grow the best cannabis ever right now. Just like we have the best liquor ever in history, best restaurants, best automobiles, best toilets. It’s okay. Everything’s okay… Peace!
