Denver Relief Pass the Torch, refocuses on advocacy

PRESS RELEASE

Denver’s oldest Dispensary joins the Terrapin Family”

DENVER, COLO. July 21, 2016

Denver Relief Consulting announced Thursday the completion of the transfer of Denver Relief (1 Broadway Denver) to Boulder based Terrapin Care Station.

The partners of Denver Relief (DR) have a long history of civic engagement and have chosen to focus primarily on that mission. Recognized by the Cannabist of the Denver Post for community involvement in 2015, Denver Relief Consulting (DRC) is in the process of the GREEN TEAM taking over the operations of Medical Cannabis Advocacy 501c3, Sensible Colorado. With over 1,000 active volunteers and 45 supporting entities, DRC and the GREEN TEAM will continue to be the example of how the cannabis community can bring positive change to the broader community. Additionally DRC will continue their advocacy for Cannabis Industry reforms towards environmental stewardship, social consumption integration and broader social justice and drug policy issues, particularly removing the barriers of entry to communities historically negatively impacted by the war on drugs.

DRC will continue its business development and consulting practice. Building on success in Nevada and Illinois, DRC will serve clients globally in the exciting cannabis space, primarily with Illinois-based partner Cresco Labs.

Since the company began operating 7 years ago, DR has been an active community partner. While the “GREEN TEAM” has become a staple of the Denver outreach community, supporting food security initiatives, bicycle and wheelchair repair clinics, neighborhood beautification and support for community events, the business philosophy of DR was a reflection of the philanthropic nature of the partners. The partners of the DR serve on various non-profit boards such as the Anti-Defamation League, the Arts District on Santa Fe, Colorado Youth Symphony, Jewish Colorado, Rocky Mountain Jewish Historical Society, Students for Sensible Drug Policy and the Wexner Foundation, professional organizations, the National Cannabis Industry Association, Illinois Cannabis Industry Association, and policy advocacy groups such as Council on Responsible Cannabis Regulation, Governor’s Marijuana Education Oversight Committee, Denver Mayor’s Office Marijuana Work Group and the Denver Campaign for Limited Social Use.

When the time came for the entrepreneurs to refocus their energy on advocacy, Terrapin Care Station (TCS) was an organic choice. Although serving different communities, DR and TCS share the values of consumer focused facilities, civic engagement and naturally, a long friendship between the owners.

“I am excited for my friends as they move on to their next projects” … Chris Woods, President of TCS stated continuing, “It has been an honor to work with them on many causes including Amendment 64. I am humbled to be able to carry the torch at Denver’s oldest dispensary and our company is excited to become integrated into the Denver Community as we have become a part of Aurora and Boulder”.

TCS is Boulder’s first Retail Marijuana Dispensary and holds City of Aurora license #1 and will now provide quality, affordable cannabis products at the site of Denver’s oldest Dispensary. The Baker neighborhood, vibrant with music, art and food is a perfect match for Terrapin’s active cannabis consumer brand.

As the industry evolves, there has been a focus keeping the Colorado’s industry competitive while retaining the cannabis movement’s core values. The transfer of DR to TCS shows the dynamism of industry growth and triumph of personal passion for reform. “We built Denver Relief with $4,000 and a half pound of medical cannabis. We are a true grassroots cannabis business, built with the help of our patients and we cannot think of a better company to serve the community we have built than Terrapin Care Station” said Ean Seeb, Founding Partner of DR, his partner Kayvan Khalatbari adding, “Although sad to see Denver Relief’s operations come to a close, this transition provides a tremendous opportunity to get back to my true passion of pursuing progressive social initiatives in Denver, and bringing the cannabis message to a wider audience through the expansion of Denver Relief Consulting”.

Baker neighborhood cannabis consumers can expect a smooth transition from DR to TCS and are invited to join us for soft and grand openings. The Denver community can be proud that its most engaged cannabis businesses is being succeed by a company with the same community focused values. TCS will continue the tradition of patient and consumer focused service that was the hallmark of DR.

  1. Went to DR yesterday. Was surprised to see Terapin. They said they were recreational only. What?? Place feels cold and did not feel staff was as helpful as they were invested in talking to each other, rather than customers. Sad transition.
