A well-known California medical marijuana dispensary company that opened a Portland location last year has ended its operation, saying it wants to focus on expanding its retail and research efforts in California.
Harborside Health Center opened a Portland location in October, coinciding with the state’s early recreational sales. But sales weren’t ask brisk as at Harborside’s California locations, prompting the company to transfer ownership to another dispensary operator. The location is now called Portland Health Center.
Steve DeAngelo, the executive director of Harborside, which has locations in San Jose and Oakland, spoke recently with The Oregonian/OregonLive about his decision to leave Oregon’s new recreational marijuana market.
