5 Tools to Improve Performance in Cannabis Websites

You have a website; now what?

Well, “just OK” can get better, and better can be the best.

Here’s some help:

1 – Checkdog.com

Checkdog.com is a website spellchecker, literally, and it’s very cool. Just run your site through it and let it do its thing. It scans through your site but then when you click on the links it brings up the page, allowing you to scroll down to the highlighted areas of the page.

This impressed me, and makes things super easy! The worst thing is a website with typos and spelling errors, and it’s definitely the last thing the Cannabis Industry needs to be taken seriously. There is a free test, but you can also pay for more usage.

2 – Responsinator.com

Responsinator.com will very quickly and easily emulate the different screen sizes of mobile devices and what your site will look like on them. It will show you different orientations of the screen so you can see it vertically and horizontally.

It will also show you the site on Apple products vs. Androids. You can also scroll on it to actually see everything that you would be seeing. It covers all the bases.

3 – Looktracker.com

The Cannabis Industry needs more digital data, period. An eye tracker is a visual representation of where people are looking on your screen. Bright colors mean that area has a lot of attention, cooler colors not so much. How is this done?

Looktracker.com is actually software for an understudy that tracks people’s pupil movement. It’s normally quite an expensive thing to have done. But here are two solutions that will get you close to this result.

Looktracker.com costs a couple hundred bucks. Just remember, it may not be your target audience that is looking. Also, it’s just one individual, although you can pay more and layer several people on your results.

Still, with that said, it will give you the results of where people’s attention is being drawn to. It’s a good service and a low-cost way of getting an eye tracker study done. It’s not perfect, but it’s a cost-effective way of doing things.

4 – Attentionwizard.com

This tool is just slightly different from Looktracker.com. Attentionwizard.com works to simulate an eye tracker study. It is a computer program that simulates what kind of things on a page get attention, via an algorithm, and how they can be organized.

Their tests show it’s around 80 percent accurate. You can sign up for .01 cent and get 10 eye tracker simulations. Then you can pay a monthly fee to do a certain amount each month. You simply upload a screenshot of the page and it does its thing.

Again, it’s not perfect, but it will get you pretty far.

5 – Adwords Preview Tool

Not that it’s easy for any of us in this industry to get Google ads, but if you can be creative enough, this tool enables you to preview an ad that you have running on Google.

Why would you want to do that? Well, I used to have a client, who will remain nameless, that had huge budget for PPC. We would launch new campaigns for them and they would email everyone on the sales team and say “look everyone, we have a new PPC running.” All these people would go into Google, search the keywords that triggered their ads, they would then click on their own ads to see how it looked and literally wipe out their own budget almost immediately. True story. Crazy.

So, what this tool allows you to do is all the above, but just preview it and not actually be charged when you click on it. You can do it to see competitor’s ads as well. Yes, be nice, and don’t take up their budget. You can even see what it looks like in other countries if you are running there.

Now, let’s get working on those sites!
