New Poll Shows Ohio Voters Evenly Split on Marijuana Legalization

Ohio voters are split on the effort to legalize marijuana this November, according to a new poll.

Overall, Ohio registered voters are split evenly — 46 percent to 46 percent — on Issue 3 while 8 percent are undecided, the poll from the University of Akron Bliss Institute found. Thirty-nine percent named it the most important issue in the Nov. 3 election and 91 percent have heard or read about it.

Issue 3 poses a major public policy question: Should Ohio legalize marijuana for medical and use by adults, name 10 sites for commercial pot production and allow for limited home growing of marijuana?

Pollsters said Issue 3 will pass or fail based on the mix of who turns out to vote. If the voters turning out this year resemble the mix who showed up for the 2014 gubernatorial election, which was a good year for Republicans, Issue 3 would go down by 10 percentage points. But if the mix is more like 2012, which was a good year for Democrats, Issue 3 would pass by 4 points. [Read more at the Dayton Daily News]

  1. Vote YES on Issue 3! Stop the madness of prohibition. The proposed policy WILL change for the better BUT it can not change if you do not vote YES on Issue 3 now.
