The National Conference of State Legislatures approved a resolution on Thursday in Seattle requesting more freedom from the federal government in marijuana policies.
The resolution urged the government not to intervene in state-level policies including legalization and asked officials âto explicitly allow states to set their own marijuana and hemp policies without federal interference.â
The document, approved by state lawmakers from around the country, asks that the government keep their hands off of states that âare increasingly serving as laboratories for democracyâ and allow each state to decide what is best for them.
The NCSL says that it ârecognizes that its members have differing views,â but that itâs high time for federal support. [Read more at the Seattle Post Intelligencer]
