For $15 to $20, Washington residents can pick up a gram of OG Silver Haze or Blackberry Kush at the New Vansterdam store in Vancouver. A year after legalization, retail marijuana prices are relatively stable.
But it took awhile to get to that point. In both Colorado and Washington, prices shot up in the early days of legal pot and later fell dramatically. And it might repeat this year, though less dramatically.
Marijuana retailers in the two states are also dealing with new taxes, which shocks customers who are used to black market prices.
“Customers will come in and be infuriated about the taxes,” said Shon-Lueiss Harris, marketing consultant at New Vansterdam. So he has to do some explaining about where the money goes. [Read more at the Portland Oregonian]
