Press Release
More Ohio Manufacturing Jobs for Botanical Extraction Industry
WHAT: Successful Grand Opening ceremony of Apeks Supercritical’s new manufacturing facility in Johnstown, Ohio has more than 200 attendees including representatives from the Village of Johnstown and Licking County Commissioners.
WHO: Apeks Supercritical, Andy Joseph (president)
WHERE: 150 Commerce Boulevard, Johnstown, Ohio, 43031
WHEN: July 17 at 2:00PM
WHY: Apeks Supercritical has invested more than $2M creating a state of the art manufacturing facility to support the extremely fast growth rate achieved over the last 4 years (placed 6th in “Columbus Business First Fast 50,” 2014; placing nationally in the INC 500, 2015) with a sustained growth rate expected to continue. With the choice to move the business to many other locations, including out of state, “I chose the more expensive and more time consuming route of building a new facility in Johnstown, Ohio so we could have an immediate and tangible impact on the community that I live in and where my kids (I have 5) all go to school.” says U.S. Navy Veteran and Apeks Supercritical President Andy Joseph.
Left to right: Johnstown Village Manager Jim Lenner, Kristen Joseph, Andy Joseph, Licking County Commissioner Duane Flowers, Johnstown Mayor Sean Staneart, Johnstown School Board President Ruth Ann Booher, Johnstown Village Board of Director member Carol Van Deest.
Apeks has grown from 1 employee in 2011 to 21 employees in 2015. Apeks Supercritical is proud to have nearly 25 percent of its workforce employed by military veterans and is hiring manufacturing employees and engineers. Apeks proudly offers a 5 percent discount to active duty US military personnel (valid ID required) and US military veterans (DD-214 required). Apeks Supercritical is a founding member of the Ohio Hemp Chamber of Commerce.
An additional 48,000 Phase 2 expansion, making the entire facility 65,000 sq ft. is planned for 2016 or 2017 depending primarily on cannabis regulation in Ohio. The expansion will support additional manufacturing space, a toll processing facility, and additional space available for lease to support new manufacturing companies in Johnstown Ohio.

About Apeks Supercritical
Apeks is dedicated to the safety of our clients and as such we are focused on promoting the use of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) for botanical extractions. CO2 is Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) by the FDA, is chemically inert, non-flammable, leaves no toxic residue, is a natural disinfectant, and is carbon neutral which makes it an ideal solvent for essential oil extractions. Health and beauty industries, herbal formula providers, perfume manufacturers, neutraceutical and pharmaceutical providers have all realized the benefits of CO2 extracted essential oils for many years. All Apeks Supercritical systems are designed with duplicate and/or triplicate safety systems and all vessels are designed and built in accordance with ASME standards. With over 14 years of design, engineering and fabrication experience in botanical oil extraction equipment industry, we know how to build systems that are safe, reliable and efficient.
