COLUMBUS, Ohio — A second proposal to amend the Ohio Constitution to legalize sale, possession and use of marijuana in the state won approval from the Ohio Ballot Board Thursday, clearing the next hurdle toward reaching the November ballot.
The action by the ballot board raises the possibility that Ohioans could see dueling constitutional amendments on the ballot in November, something Secretary of State Jon Husted sees as a reason for concern.
The issue, “Legalize Marijuana and Hemp in Ohio,” is proposed by Better for Ohio and modeled on an amendment that ResponsibleOhio is pushing.
In many places the new proposal’s language is identicalto the ResponsibleOhio ballot issue.
