Senate Committee Advances ‘Hope for Haley’ Medical Marijuana Bill

NORTH CAROLINA–There were cheers and tears in a state Senate committee on Wednesday.

A Senate committee advanced a proposal that has been dubbed “Hope for Haley.” Haley is a 6 year old who suffers seizures.

An extract from hemp plants known as CBD oil has shown promising results, but since the origins of the extract come from a marijuana plant, it is currently illegal in North Carolina.

Legislators are looking to allow the extract in a pilot program for the families in need. They said this could be the answer they are looking for. [Read More…]
