New York Extends Application Deadline for Medical Marijuana Distributors

State officials have extended a deadline for companies interested in selling and distributing medical marijuana in New York.

Due to a higher than anticipated number of questions from potential applicants, the state extended the deadline to June 5 for submission of applications for registration as a registered organization. The original deadline was May 29.

The deadline for issuing registrations has not changed, however, with plans continuing to have the program begin in early January, 2016.

As previously reported, the state Department of Health will award just five, two-year licenses, with licensees expected to operate up to four dispensaries apiece across the state. New York’s Compassionate Care Act also allows the state health commissioner to register additional organizations in the future. [Read more at Buffalo Business First]
